Mental Health First Aid: For Young Adults in Leadership with Youth and Peers

This will be a great opportunity to learn more about how to be a competent leader, a supportive colleague, and a friend for those in your community with mental wellbeing decline. You will learn more about your own mental wellbeing and have an important credential for your resume if you plan to work with youth in the future.

This course is over two Saturdays, one week apart. (February 5 and 12) as detailed below, and is offered specifically for participants who are 18-35 years of age.

Your participation is completed in three parts. Part One: A self-directed module that you complete online in your own time. Part Two: Online group session one. Part Three: Online group session two.

 Participants will learn how to:

  • recognize signs that a young person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health or substance use crisis

  • initiate conversations that encourage a young person to talk about a mental health or substance use problem

  • discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being

  • assist in a mental health or substance use crisis situation

  • check in with one’s own mental well-being and take action as needed

Dates: Saturday February 5 and Saturday February 12, 2022. 2-6pm Pacific/3-7pm Mountain.
