MHFA Training For Those Who Work With You (Self Directed Module Begins)

Required Attendance: This course is completed in three parts. Your completion of all three parts is required for certification.

  1. Self-Directed Online Module: for you to complete in your own time during the week of July 11-18, 2022

  2. Online Group Session One: Tuesday July 19, 10am-2pm Pacific Time

  3. Online Group Session Two: Tuesday July 26, 10am-2pm Pacific Time

This course is designed for those who have frequent contact with young people, for example, parents and guardians, youth ministers, camp leaders, campus ministers, teachers and other school staff, sports coaches, youth workers, clergy.

When you complete this Mental Health First Aid training as offered by LeaderSHIFT you will be certified in the Mental Health First Aid Course of the Mental Health Commission of Canada — with the bonus of taking the program with other people of faith, with space to connect your learnings to our collective experience in Christian community.


Course participants will learn how to

• recognize signs that a young person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or who might be in a mental health or substance use crisis

• have conversations that encourage a young person to - talk about their mental well-being - discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being - reach out to these supports

• assist in a mental health or substance use crisis situation

• check in with one’s own mental well-being and take action as needed
